Although the weather man is calling for potential snowfall over the next few hours, on my walk yesterday I saw some signs of spring.
The witch hazel blossoms are beginning to flower and the laurel tree has swollen buds.
This poem about spring is titled "The Little Plant." It's from Poems Teachers Ask For, Book One.
In the heart of a seed,
Buried deep, so deep,
A dear little plant
Lay fast asleep!
"Wake!" said the sunshine,
"And creep to the light!"
"Wake!" said the voice
Of the raindrop bright.
The little plant heard
And it rose to see
What a wonderful
Outside the world might be.

If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
